The first Radeon RX 6000 GPU with a sub-$500 price tag, the RX 6700 XT, could be with us next week, as AMD plans to debut a new graphics card on March 3. A leak at the start of the month has already hinted at a number of details surrounding the GPU, which will reportedly pack 12GB of GDDR6 RAM, target 1440p gaming, and go head-to-head with the RTX 3060 Ti.
Much like Nvidia's unorthodox approach of releasing an enhanced model before the standard, Cowcotland states that the XT variant will be the only graphics card we'll see during the presentation. The standard RX 6700 was in the pipeline but has reportedly been shelved for the time being.
Both reference and custom Radeon RX 6700 XT models should land on shelves on March 18, according to the report, but will suffer from extremely limited availability. Originally, AMD extended the production of RX 6800 and 6900 reference cards to combat stock issues, but this time around the company is expected to produce just 100 units of the RX 6700 XT before Cowcotland says it'll "directly go to end-of-life."
